WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) -Wilmington City Council is preparing to again discuss a controversial public camping ordinance that would ban sleeping or camping on city property between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
An amended version of the ordinance, first introduced by council member Luke Waddell, passed first reading 5-2 during city council’s meeting on Sept. 9.
The vote to waive second reading didn’t get the mandatory unanimous vote, though, allowing the ordinance to appear on the agenda again for the Sept. 23 meeting. Salette Andrews and Kevin Spears voted against in both instances…
