ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque Police Department and special operation teams cleared the San Mateo towers after reports of squatters, crime and drug use inside the building slotted for affordable housing.
The operation, filled the deserted parking lot with around 50 squad cars, sniffing dogs and weapons. APD told KOB 4, they aim to secure the building and prevent re-entry, with City of Albuquerque’s Code Enforcement and Solid Waste teams assisting in any necessary encampment clean-up.
