2 dead in separate crashes over the weekend

A 45-year-old Caldwell man died Saturday after the truck he was driving plunged into the Payette River.

The man, who has not yet been publicly identified, was driving a 2012 Ford F350 northbound on State Highway 55, north of Banks, at 6:02 p.m. Saturday when the vehicle left the roadway on the right shoulder, the driver overcorrected and lost control and the truck went down an embankment and into the river, an Idaho State Police news release stated.

Although the driver and a 25-year-old male passenger were able to exit the vehicle, the driver died at the scene, the release said. The passenger was air-lifted to a local hospital…
