Rikers Inmate Tried to Kill Guards With Scalpel, Tossed Feces in Prior Attacks

A Rikers Island inmate faces a slew of charges after allegedly slashing two correction officers with a scalpel, Bronx prosecutors said.

Bronx DA Darcel D. Clark announced that 31-year-old Sundance Oliver, of Manhattan, was arraigned on Attempted Murder in the second degree along with multiple assault and prison contraband charges. The attacks reportedly left one officer with a large permanent scar.

According to the investigation, on August 27, Oliver was being transferred to another facility when he allegedly lunged at officers with a blade. One officer was cut on the face and lip, requiring seven stitches, while another was struck on the head and cut on the face, needing seventeen stitches…
