Top three SLC attorney candidates withdraw applications

FORT PIERCE – A scant few days before St. Lucie County commissioners were set to interview the top county attorney candidates recommended by their contracted executive headhunter, all three suddenly withdrew, with only one providing the reasons afterward.

The Commission majority had approved a shortlist of three candidates on Sept. 15 with whom to consider replacing former County Attorney Dan McIntyre, who retired Aug. 29 after spending four decades representing the legal interests of the county.

District 1 Commissioner James Clasby cast the lone-dissenting vote and rejected all three candidates vetted by the county’s hired consultant S. Renee Narlock, insisting she’d done a poor job ensuring the candidates were not overtly political…
