AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas at Austin is the best public university in the state, according to new rankings from U.S. News & World Report.
The 2026 rankings put UT at the top for public universities in Texas and at No. 7 among public universities in the U.S. The university comes in at No. 30 nationally when both public and private universities are factored in.
Of the 37 UT undergraduate programs evaluated by U.S. News & World Report, 24 ranked in the top 10 among all universities nationally and six ranked in the top five: Accounting, Finance, and Marketing in the McCombs School of Business and Petroleum, Chemical, and Civil Engineering in the Cockrell School of Engineering.
