Vigil planned for man who died after I-10 incident with police

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The family of the 30-year-old man who had a confrontation with El Paso Police officers in July along Interstate 10 and later died will host a candlelight vigil to honor his life.

The vigil for Xavier Hernandez, 30, will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Eastwood Park, 3110 Parkwood St.

As KTSM previously reported, Hernandez was stunned with a stun gun multiple times by an El Paso Police officer on July 13 at I-10 at Yarbrough.

The stun gun was ineffective, police said at the time, and another officer and a witness helped to subdue Hernandez, who became unresponsive.
