Memphis rapper Finesse2Tymes finds himself behind bars once again, this time in Tyler, Texas, following a concert performance that ended with drug-related charges. Born Ricky Hampton, the artist’s latest encounter with law enforcement continues a troubling pattern that has shadowed his career for years.

The incident began as a routine traffic stop when Hampton was pulled over while driving a red Corvette on Claude Street for not wearing a seatbelt. What started as a minor violation quickly escalated when officers detected the smell of marijuana and spotted a hand-rolled cigar in the vehicle’s ashtray, prompting a thorough search.

The traffic stop investigation

During the vehicle search, Hampton’s passenger, Halie Buckingham, known professionally as Shugga, allegedly reached for a bag on the floorboard, which caught officers’ attention. The bag contained substances that led to multiple arrests.

Police discovered 0.7 ounces of marijuana, 12 oxycodone pills, and seven methylphenidate pills during their search. Hampton was charged with marijuana possession while Buckingham faced two counts of controlled substance possession and one marijuana possession charge. Both were released on bond by 4:50 a.m. Saturday.
