17-year-old accused of shooting off-duty DC firefighter faces upgraded charges

WASHINGTON, D.C. (7News) — The 17-year-old boy who is accused of shooting an off-duty firefighter in D.C. now faces stronger charges, according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s office.

Pirro said the teen, who will be charged as an adult, faces charges of armed robbery while possessing a firearm, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence and aggravated assault while armed.

“We are in the process of upgrading those charges under Title 16. USA Pirro is looking forward to bringing the matter under Title 16 to show that young people will be accountable in adult court when they commit adult crimes,” a statement from her office read before she announced the upgraded charges in a news conference Monday…
