Retired CDCR sgt pleads no contest to DUI, hit-and-run charges

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A retired sergeant with California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has pleaded no contest to driving drunk and leaving the scene of a crash last year that injured two people.

Arnulfo Ryan Valverde pleaded no contest to felony DUI and hit-and-run charges Monday and is set for sentencing Oct. 21, according to court records. Another felony DUI count was dismissed.

He faces 180 days in jail and will be referred to the work release program, according to the District Attorney’s Office. Additionally, he’ll be placed on felony probation with DUI terms and ordered to pay restitution.
