FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools shared a presentation on Monday outlining further details of the district’s $37 million budget deficit.
Detailing the Deficit
WS/FCS says that the deficit is “currently estimated at $37 million,” and the North Carolina Board of Education is requiring that the district have a repayment plan in place by Nov. 4. The district says it has “pursued county support to pay down $7.9 million.”
District officers warn that it is currently at risk of lawsuits from the vendors to which it owes money. There are three “big” vendor payments due as of now, totalling over $15 million.
