Heavy rain prompts Flood Warning

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A line of heavy showers and storms pushed through the Tennessee Valley Tuesday morning. With plenty of moisture in place, the storms were able to produce torrential rain during the morning commute.

Flash flooding, ponding on roads, and the rising of the local small creeks and streams were issues.

The National Weather Service has issued an Areal Flood Warning until 3:30 p.m. because of the heavy rain that moved through the area Tuesday morning. Counties included in the warning are Limestone, Lincoln, and Madison.

Between 2 and 5 inches of rain fell in the warning area, with light additional rain forecast in the next few hours. Some of the heaviest rain fell across northwest Madison and northeast Limestone counties.
