Rep. Mannion presses Dr. Oz to address concerns at Van Duyn Nursing and Rehabilitation

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — New York State has already come down on them, and now there’s a call for federal action to ensure proper patient care and safety at Van Duyn Nursing and Rehabilitation.

In a letter to Dr. Mehmet Oz, the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Congressman Mannion requested answers to nine questions, including why Van Duyn is not receiving inspections every six months, despite the facility being on the agency’s special focus facility list for two years now.

If a facility is on the list, the CMS is mandated to conduct inspections every six months. Mannion said Van Duyn has only been inspected three times in the past four years…
