Prosecutors charge two men in south Wichita drive-by shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Two men accused in a south Wichita drive-by shooting made their first court appearance Tuesday after prosecutors filed felony charges against them.

Phillip Two Hatchett, 47, and Bruce Mabry, 42, are each charged with criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied dwelling and criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. The charges stem from a Sept. 17 incident in which shots were fired into a home in the 2300 block of South Lulu. A 56-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were inside at the time, but no one was hurt.

Two Hatchett also faces additional counts of fleeing or attempting to elude officers and criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon in connection with events the following day.

Mabry’s bond was set at $150,000, while Two Hatchett’s bond was set at $125,000.

Police said they identified a suspect vehicle shortly after the shooting and tracked it to a south Wichita residence the next day. When suspects fled, they were pursued with help from the Kansas Highway Patrol’s air unit.
