ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Local nonprofit, Locker #505, knows when kids look good, they feel great. For the last 12 years, they have worked to make sure no child goes without the clothes they need throughout the school year, and this year’s demand is higher than ever.
“We have almost 3,000 referrals already, and that was starting end of July, and we’ve seen well over 1,000 kids already. We’re seeing a greater need. We’re seeing new kids, you know, students that haven’t needed our services in the past, that need them now for lots of different reasons,” said Kim Kerschen, executive director of Locker #505.
That’s about a 20% increase compared to this time last school year. While Locker #505 is always more than excited to help more students, the more students they serve means the faster the donation piles drop…
