After formally receiving its Long Range Planning Committee’s school closing recommendations on Sept. 16, the Kyrene Governing Board three days later began grappling with their staggering implications.
In a special meeting last Friday, Sept. 19, the board pondered eliminating one elementary school from its list of six elementary and two middle schools targeted for closure.
That so-far-undetermined elementary school apparently will be in the eastern half of the district, as the board directed demographer Rick Brammer and the administration to create a scenario this week for keeping one of the targeted elementary schools open…
