If you have a pet dog, cat, or ferret, this Saturday, you have a chance to get their rabies shots for free in Western New York. Erie County is holding another free drive-thru rabies clinic on Saturday at the Erie County Training and Emergency Operations Center. This clinic will run from 9 am until 1 pm.
If you have your pet’s rabies shot paperwork, the vaccine will be valid for three years; if you don’t have previous paperwork, the rabies shot will be valid for 1 year.
How Does The Free Rabies Drive-Thru Clinic Work?
The drive-thru clinic is fast and easy. I did this with my cat Stamp two years ago. I made the appointment online, showed up with Stamp in her carrier, and the vets took her from my car, gave her the shot, and returned her right back to my car. The whole process took maybe 5 minutes, and she is good for her rabies vaccines for three years.
