Charleston’s homeless veterans receive help, hope at annual ‘Stand Down’ event

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Hundreds of homeless veterans across the Lowcountry are getting a second chance through the Ralph H. Johnson VA Healthcare System’s annual event.

Held at the Charleston Area Convention Center, the Stand Down Against Homelessness event connects people in crisis with critical services aimed at ending veteran homelessness. It runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to anyone affected by homelessness.

The event started more than 25 years ago and serves hundreds of veterans in the Lowcountry’s communities each year…
