VA awards $11 million to Alabama groups to combat Veteran homelessness

Three Alabama organizations will receive more than $11 million in grants to fight Veteran homelessness, including United Way of Central Alabama, which is receiving more than $7.9 million.

The other organizations receiving funding include HOPE for All Gulf Coast, which will receive more than $2.3 million, and Volunteers of America Southeast, Inc., which will receive more than $903,000. Funds will support services such as housing and housing counseling, health care, financial planning, childcare, legal assistance, and transportation.
