Central Virginia natives killed by lightning strike while hunting in Colorado

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two Central Virginia natives who went missing while hunting in Colorado were killed by a lightning strike, according to the local coroner’s office.

On Thursday, Sept. 18, 25-year-old Andrew Porter of Asheville, North Carolina, and 25-year-old Ian Stasko of Salt Lake City, Utah, were found dead after a six-day search.

Loved ones reported Porter and Stasko missing on Saturday, Sept. 13, after the two men, who were elk hunting in the San Juan National Forest Wilderness Area in Colorado, failed to check in with them as expected…
