LPD Issues Alert After Scammer Poses as Police Sergeant

Lincoln Police are sounding the alarm about a phone scam where the caller is claiming to be an LPD Sergeant. Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says a Lincoln man got that phone call on Monday. “The scammer claimed to be LPD Sgt. Jeremy Carr and called from a Lincoln phone number,” Thomas says.

“He told him he’d missed jury duty, violated laws and had a warrant for his arrest.” Thomas says the scammer told him to make a payment via Apple Pay to address the warrant. “The man did not make any payment and hung up.”
