LUBBOCK, Texas — For Benny Guerrero Jr., State SrVc Commander Department of Texas VFW, Hispanic Heritage Month is more than a celebration; it’s a reflection of the values that shaped his life and a reminder of the contributions Hispanic Americans have made in service to the nation.
Born and raised in Lubbock, Guerrero says his upbringing was rooted in “faith, family, hard work, and resilience.” Those values guided him into a 26 year career in the United States Marine Corps, where he learned to fight not only for himself but for others. “My heritage taught me to protect people, our freedoms, and our way of life,” Guerrero said.
Today, Guerrero serves as State Senior Vice Commander of the Department of Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) a role he calls both “an honor and a responsibility.”…
