Suspect charged in Aurora home invasion, domestic violence case, according to police

An Aurora man was arrested last week in connection with a reported home invasion and battery, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department.

Authorities responded to a residence in the 900 block of Wood Street at around 11:13 p.m. for a reported domestic violence situation and learned 26-year-old Nimal Fernandez-Oropeza had unlawfully entered the home and battered a woman. A male juvenile attempted to intervene and was also struck before Fernandez-Oropeza fled the scene in a black Dodge Durango.

Police located the vehicle but abandoned the pursuit after it recklessly fled the scene. Officers noticed the vehicle about 30 minutes later in the area of Andover Lane and Middlebury Drive. Fernandez-Oropeza stopped the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident…
