Addison, IL – The Addison Police Department issued a public statement Monday addressing community questions about its role in immigration enforcement, clarifying that local officers are not permitted to assist federal immigration authorities.
According to the department, the clarification comes after receiving multiple inquiries about whether Addison police cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Officials stated that under the Illinois Trust Act, municipal police are prohibited from participating in or assisting with federal immigration enforcement operations.
