Fatal crash on SH-55 Saturday strands drivers for 12 hours
A Caldwell man is dead after his Ford F350 went into the Payette River Saturday Night, causing a 12-hour closure on Highway 55 that left many motorists stranded.
Idaho Police said that the crash occurred just after 6 p.m. on SH-55 near mile marker 79, just north of Banks.
The 45-year-old Caldwell man was driving northbound when his truck left the roadway on the right shoulder. The driver then overcorrected and lost control of his truck, and went down an embankment into the Payette River, according to Idaho State Police…
