Granite School District faces backlash over boundary study and school closures

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — On Tuesday, a protest was held at Skyline High School prior to a community meeting with the Granite School District, and over 50 parents and students attended to be heard.

Granite School District says they have seen the student population decline in many areas, and because of this, they are doing a Population Analysis Study to see if school boundaries need to change or if some schools should be closed.

This study focuses on area five in the district, which means 10 elementary schools are involved: Cottonwood, Crestview, Driggs, Eastwood, Morningside, Oakridge, Oakwood, Penn, Rosecrest, and Upland Terrace…
