Target shooting increases near Golden Eagle Regional Park, residents urged to report

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning to the public about a surge in reports of individuals discharging firearms in and around Golden Eagle Regional Park in Spanish Springs.

The sheriff’s office says this illegal activity poses significant risks to families, children, park visitors, and neighbors. A local resident reported, “Stray bullets have shattered windows and narrowly missed people.”

Nevada law prohibits discharging shotguns, air rifles, BB guns, or similar weapons within 1,000 feet of any dwelling, and 5,000 feet for pistols, rifles, or other firearms…
