Albany, NY (News10) — The investigation continues into a social security fraud case on Crestwood Court, with investigators seen digging in the backyard looking for evidence.

“This remains an active crime scene and over the course of the past 24 hours we’ve been able to develop several leads,” stated Albany County District Attorney Lee Kindlon.
While police were not releasing the names, the Albany County Clerk’s Office shared that Theresia and Franz Kraus are listed as the owners of the 6 Crestwood Court property. Neighbors said they used to see the couple out walking, and then they seemed to just disappear one day, never to be seen again.

Lee was unable to confirm whether Theresia and Franz Kraus are dead or alive, or disclose whether they had left the country, but said there is an excavation taking place in the backyard of 6 Crestwood Court.
“We got a backhoe to help with our investigations,” he expalined.

When asked what he’s hoping investigators will find as they dig the property, he responded, “As a human being, I’m hoping to find nothing. But, as the district attorney and the lead law enforcement of the county, well, I’m not sure that that’s going to be the case.”…
