Second teen sentenced in 2022 killing of 16-year-old

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A Fort Wayne teenager accused of playing a role in the 2022 homicide of another teen was sentenced Wednesday.

Elaysha Underwood, along with two other teens, had been arrested over a plot to steal the victim’s phone in an effort to cover up a relationship between two of the suspects. But the confrontation quickly became more sinister than theft.

A judge in Allen Superior Court sentenced Underwood to 20 years in prison during Wednesday’s hearing. In December 2023, Underwood pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit murder in connection to the killing.
