Two arrested after stabbing outside Clinton restaurant

CLINTON, Tenn. (WATE) — Two people were arrested Tuesday in Clinton after an altercation at a restaurant reportedly turned violent.

Officers responded to the El Indio restaurant on 1115 N. Seivers Boulevard, where a verbal argument reportedly escalated into a fight outside the restaurant. A 33-year-old man was stabbed twice during the incident.

Two people left the scene in a vehicle. According to a press release, the driver failed to stop when police attempted to make a traffic stop and ran from the vehicle. Both were taken into custody without further incident near the intersection of Market Street and Commerce Street.

Tyler Novak, 27, was charged with aggravated assault, evading arrest, tampering with evidence, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication. David Shifflett, 44, was charged with driving under the influence, evading arrest, reckless driving, disorderly conduct, and reckless endangerment.
