A caregiver at an Ocala rehabilitation center was arrested after she allegedly stole a gold ring from a 94-year-old patient who suffers from dementia, with authorities noting that the one-of-a-kind ring had been gifted to the widow over 60 years ago by her late husband.
On Sunday, August 31, the Ocala Police Department received a report that the elderly victim’s ring had been stolen from her finger at Hawthorne Village Rehab (4100 SW 33rd Avenue in Ocala). The victim was “in hospice care with dementia,” according to the arrest report.
