A man standing trial for a San Francisco crime spree that includes robbery and murder charges in the attack of an 88-year-old woman who later died told a group of jurors Tuesday that he has been wrongly accused.
San Francisco resident Keonte Gathron, who is representing himself in a San Francisco courtroom, began his opening statements to the jury by claiming that surveillance videos that prosecutors say identify him as the assailant in multiple carjackings, robberies and assaults in January 2019 were intentionally altered by artificial intelligence.
“I don’t want you all to be deceived,” he said, referring to several Muni surveillance camera videos appearing to show him near the alleged incidents that were shown to jurors by Assistant District Attorney Nathan Quigley on Monday. “That video was altered. Sorry.”…
