El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank names interim CEO in sudden leadership change

El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank has named Kris Yagel, a U.S. Army veteran and business leader, as interim chief executive officer, the organization said Tuesday without citing a reason for the departure of its former leader Susan Goodell.

Yagel, who has served as director of strategic development at the food bank since March, is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy and served as a military police officer for six years, the food bank said in a news release. He has held a variety of sales, management and leadership development roles since leaving the Army.

“It is an honor to be chosen to lead such a dedicated, hard-working team. Hunger is a formidable enemy, but together in partnership with our community, we will advance our cause to reduce its grip on our region,” Yagel said in a statement.
