SoDo Fights Back with Color After FDOT Scrubs Pulse Crosswalks

SoDo Main Street District has announced a new initiative to celebrate resilience, strengthen neighborhood pride, and expand public art across the community.

In recent weeks, the removal of the Pulse memorial crosswalk and more than 50 decorative crosswalks left a visible absence in the district. SoDo is responding with a series of projects designed to bring color, creativity, and remembrance back into the neighborhood.

The effort includes nearly 60 “Orlando United” banners, which will be installed by the end of September in time for Orlando’s Come Out With Pride celebration. Yard signs are available now at Clean Eatz in SoDo for a minimum $5 donation, and “Orlando is Better in Color” tote bags ($15) are available online. Free posters are also available at Clean Eatz for residents and businesses.

SoDo is also inviting businesses to host micro-fundraisers or carry yard signs, with all proceeds going toward future public art and beautification projects…
