WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — A student at Valley High School was found with a gun on Tuesday, the West Des Moines Police Department said.

At around 2:12 p.m. a school resource officer at the high school was told about students possibly vaping in one of the school restrooms. According to WDPD, the SRO and school officials tracked down the students and discovered that one of them had a handgun.
The WDPD said there was no violence or threat of violence, and the hand gun was seized. The students involved were removed from the school. One was taken to Juvenile Court for an unrelated matter.
