Christopher Boston, Senior Pastor of Lamb of God Missionary Baptist Church (affectionately called “The Lamb”) was raised by loving parents in Milwaukee’s Garden Homes neighborhood, in the shadows of what is now called the 30th Street Corridor. He grew up attending New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where his grandfather served as a deacon for more than 50 years. As a youth, Boston faithfully served as an usher, a member of the choir, and a “Junior Deacon.”
“I love the church. Our entire family immersed ourselves in the ministry. I don’t mind calling myself a ‘church boy,’ but I never saw myself in ministry, even though at an early age others did. As is the case with many people, I had a blind spot that kept me from seeing what God had in store for my life. There is the dichotomy of knowing and submitting. Life has its twists and turns, and there comes a point where we recognize that we cannot keep running from our purpose,” he said.
Boston recalls that his family and extended family served as examples in both their devotion to God and dedication in life. His father, from Mississippi, was a foundry worker and his mother, born in Milwaukee, climbed the corporate ladder to become the first African American Postmaster of Racine…
