The Cruisin’ For a Cure Car Show Is Back
Presented by West Herr New York, the Cruisin’ for a Cure Car Show is sponsored thanks to a partnership between Men Allied for the Need to Understand Prostate Cancer (MANUP) Buffalo and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, and features dozens of classic cars, sports cars, race cars, trucks, and motorcycles in a show that spans the blocks around Roswell Parks campus, along with education and screenings for prostate cancer.
According to data from the National Cancer Institute and the Department of Health and Human Services, more, prostate cancer is the 2nd most common cancer that impacts men in America. Approximately 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and in 2024, it’s expected that nearly 300,000 men will be diagnosed with this disease.
Prostate Cancer Second Leading Cause Of Death Among Men
Those figures are even worse for black men and men of Ashkenazi Jewish heritage. Fortunately, prostate cancer is one of those diseases that can be cured if caught early. If you’re 40 or older, please speak with your physician about screening. A simple prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test or a digital rectal exam (DRE) is all it takes.
