‘I just want answers’: Mother mourns 2-year-old son who died during Greensboro dental procedure

GREENSBORO, N.C. — More than two months after 2-year-old Er’Mias Mitchell died during a dental procedure, his family filled the sidewalks outside Valleygate Dental Surgery Center, demanding justice and accountability.

Mitchell’s mother, Sharde Sherrill, says the grief has not eased and questions remain about what happened while she and the Er’Mias’ father, David Mitchell, sat in the waiting room, unaware of their son’s medical emergency.

“I don’t think I’ll ever get closure, but I just want answers,” Sherrill said. “I think it will give me a little peace, because, at the end of the night, I’m like, what happened that day, what happened to my son, you know. We still waiting on the cause of death, but still, I just want to know what happened in that room.”…
