LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Laken Snelling, the former University of Kentucky student athlete who’s accused of leaving her newborn in a trash bag found in her closet, is due to appear in court on Friday morning.
Snelling, 21, has since withdrawn from the university and was placed on in-home incarceration after posting a $100,000 bond. She’s been charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant.

Lexington police dispatch reports show that the initial 911 call came in around 10:34 a.m. on Aug. 27, in which the caller reported finding a baby boy whose body was “cold to the touch” inside a trash bag in the closet of Snelling’s Park Avenue home.
