North Florida Fairgrounds could see major changes with proposed $30 million investment

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The iconic Ferris Wheel might have to move, but in its place could be a new hotel or even a residential building on prime real estate just off of S Monroe St.

Right now, the North Florida Fair Association, Leon County and the Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency are negotiating changes meant to drive private investment in the fairgrounds, including a new stormwater facility, a community building, and down the road, perhaps a large hotel, restaurant or similar structure.

Those negotiations have been stalled, though, in part by the call for an investigation into a watch gifted to the fairgrounds’ former manager. In order to implement the $30 million project, Blueprint would need Leon County to renegotiate its lease with the North Florida Fair Association…
