Houston police announced the arrest of 30-year-old Shon Rudy Perez, who is being charged with the murder of a 59-year-old man at a residence on Galveston Road. The incident occurred on Tuesday, with police called to the scene around 2:50 a.m. The name of the deceased has not been released pending family notification, as reported in City of Houston News.
The investigation by the HPD Homicide Division, led by Sergeant C. LaFour and Detective A. Hernandez, pointed to Perez, the victim’s son, as a suspect in this case. Upon their arrival for a welfare check, HPD patrol officers found an unresponsive male inside the residence. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is involved in handling the identity of the deceased and notifying his family.
Authorities stated that Perez was arrested without incident with the help of deputies from Harris County Precinct 6. A subsequent interview saw the suspect admitting to a physical altercation with his father, resulting in head injuries that led to the older man’s death.
