In a harrowing incident on Robinson Street, authorities successfully de-escalated a volatile domestic violence situation last week. On the evening of September 16, deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence after reports of a domestic disturbance involving 34-year-old Justin Aragon. According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect had allegedly broken into the home of his ex-partner, assaulted them, and threatened the victim’s children with a knife.
On arriving at the scene, law enforcement found Aragon barricaded underneath the home. Attempts at coaxing him out were initially futile, leading to the deployment of a pepper ball round that struck the suspect in the shin. Following this, Aragon emerged and confronted the deputies with verbal aggression. Despite this challenge, officers managed to arrest Aragon, who was then booked at the El Paso County Jail on multiple charges, including second-degree assault and menacing.
The encounter ended with no injuries to all involved parties, a fact underscored by El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal.
