COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Albany County is rolling out a new driver’s education program with the South Colonie Central School District. It is being funded with the money the county has collected in tickets from drivers who are caught illegally passing stopped school buses.
The BusPatrol program revenue will help certify driver education teachers and cover the costs for students to take the classes. School leaders said both programs will help make streets safer for students.

“Bringing back driver’s education within our schools not only provides safer drivers, better education, it provides long lasting impact on our communities,” South Colonie CSD Superintendent Dr. David Perry said.
