Two Women from Waynesboro Primary School Describe Their Experience Going Through Hurricane Helene

On the anniversary week of Hurricane Helene, Chief Meteorologist Jenna Petracci sat down with two incredible women who had to rebuild their homes after Hurricane Helene. It took them around six months to move back into their family homes. They will never forget that terrible night and the aftermath of the storm.

The wind was so loud…I couldn’t even hear, we had so many other trees and limbs fall through the house and through the windows and glass breaking but I couldn’t hear any of that…it was just a loud roar. And the smell, I began to smell pine trees, like pine sap, and that’s another way I knew something wasn’t quite right… and the pressure in our ears definitely changed. None of us were hurt. We were all in the right place at the right time, so I thank you for that.” – Christy Palmer…
