Columbia opening new recovery center to address growing homelessness crisis

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) — Columbia city leaders are addressing a growing homelessness crisis, with more than 1,400 homeless individuals in the Midlands, by planning a new recovery center at Hope Plaza near Elmwood Ave.

The center aims to be a “one-stop shop” combining various services to assist those in need but with a focus on a gap that city leaders say has not been filled.
