MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Mobile Area Water and Sewer System has announced several updates in regard to the Converse Reservoir, otherwise known as Big Creek Lake.

According to a MAWSS press release, the organization intends to release a Request for Proposal, or an RFP, within the next six weeks for a boat rental facility to be operated by a concessionaire.
The proposal, first introduced in April, will keep outside boats from introducing “new invasive species into the water.” Renderings of the facility show “piers, a covered pavilion, shore fishing areas, restrooms, and a rental facility.”
Additionally, MAWSS hopes to obtain “additional legal backing” for authority over the reservoir through a declaratory judgment filed on Thursday, Sept. 25, through the Montgomery County Circuit Court.
MAWSS is also pressing charges “against an individual who has illegally accessed the reservoir and crossed clearly demarcated booms in place to protect the water supply from runoff and toxic material spills.”…
