Like all, I have noted the explosive growth of Ocala. More and more franchises, fast food restaurants, gas stations, and strip malls everywhere. That, along with the thousands of new homes and more traffic, is undoubtedly changing the face of Ocala. And while whether that is good or bad is up for debate, what is not is the lack of public spaces for children and adult recreation.
Where are the public parks, the children’s playgrounds, the splash pads for kids to safely cool off from the horrible heat and have fun? Where are the green spaces for families to enjoy picnics and be shaded by trees?
I see bulldozers everywhere uprooting trees and workers building hundreds more homes, but I see no public gardens, parks, and playgrounds being built…
