Five-Year Prison Term Imposed In 2024 Serious Assault Case in Monroe

An assault that left a fifty-five-year-old Monroe man seriously injured in his West Mills Street home on July 15th of last year, has resulted in a five-year prison term. That’s the sentence forty-two-year-old Jason Tyler McConnell was given this week after accepting a plea bargain. McConnell pleaded guilty to Assault Causing Serious Injury, a class D felony. Four aggravated misdemeanor counts of 1st degree harassment and two counts of assault on persons in certain occupations, a serious misdemeanor, were dismissed. District Court Judge Nicholas Bailey also suspended a $1,025 fine.
