KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – For patients and families of patients undergoing treatment, there’s arguably no word more important than hope.
On Thursday, September 25, the American Cancer Society unveiled the newly named and renovated Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Hope Lodge in Kansas City. The renovated facility was made possible by support from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation and a major gift from the Sunderland Foundation, along with many other generous contributions from individual, foundation, and corporate donors.
For 25 years, the 32,000-square-foot lodge has provided free, temporary housing for cancer patients who travel to Kansas City for treatment far from home.
Seven million dollars in renovations include eight new kitchen pods; a new dining and living area; a revamped movie room, a new meditation room, an updated gym, and updated guest rooms, to name a few.
The lodge sits at 12th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue just east of the Folly Theater…
