Sentencing set for man in death of Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputy

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Kelvin Burgett, the man who entered a plea to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Sedgwick County Deputy Sidnee Carter, will be sentenced in court on Friday.

Carter died on Oct. 7, 2022, when Burgett ran a stop sign at 135th and 29th Streets and crashed into her car.

Burgett was originally charged with driving under the influence, involuntary manslaughter, and driving while suspended.
